Feline Leukemia Virus (FLV)

    What is Feline Leukemia Virus?

Feline Leukemia Virus (FLV) is a debilitating disease that attacks your cat's immune system. It is highly contagious and can be passed through all bodily excretions. FLV can also pass from a mother cat to her kittens.

How can I test my cat for FLV?

Your veterinarian can test for FLV with a blood sample from your cat. Contact your veterinarian if you believe your cat may have or may have been exposed to FLV.

    Symptoms:

    • loss of weight
    • recurring illnesses
    • cumulative weakening in kittens
    • pale gums
    • jaundice in the mouth or eyes
    • lethargic behavior
    • recurring bouts of fever or diarrhea
