Caring for your Pocket Pet: Don't give your Pocket Pet a house made out of wood! It can be difficult to disinfect and can become unhealthy. Steel, plastic, and glass are all better choices. If you don't choose a durable material, your Pocket Pet could easily chew it to pieces. Remember that Pocket Pets need exercise! Make sure they have adquate room to run around in. Pocket Pets can get scared! Make sure there is an area they can hide in if they get frightened. Be sure to change your Pocket Pet's bedding twice a week. Acceptable materials for bedding include wood shavings and shredded butcher paper. Also, be sure to clean the home out with diluted bleach (1:30 bleach/water ratio) once a week. Use dishes the Pocket Pet can't chew up or tip over-commercial ceramic dishes should do nicely. You can also use a water bottle with a tube. Pocket Pets should be fed species-appropriate food. Fresh vegetables are also good for the pet-serving your Pocket Pet vegetables four to five times a week is a good way to keep them healthy. Pocket Pets can have very sensitive stomachs! Be careful not to change their diets too often, or too rapidly. Due to their small size, it is best to handle Pocket Pets gently. Children should have adult supervision, because addled pets can quickly become dangerous. Like all other pets, Pocket Pets need health checkups. Make sure you take your Pocket Pet to a veterinarian at least once a year. Questions? Ask Dr. Muller at muller@AnimalCareClinic.com.
